Watch Winder for Rolex - TPD Settings by Caliber

A sleek black digital watch winder with a silver-toned Rolex Submariner featuring a blue bezel and stainless steel bracelet.

At a glance

When choosing a watch winder for a Rolex, identify the exact reference and calibre first. A Submariner, Daytona and Sky-Dweller should not be grouped under a universal setting presented as a Rolex recommendation.

Identify your Rolex calibre

Generations matter: Daytona reference 126509 uses calibre 4131, while Sky-Dweller reference 336934 uses calibre 9002. Older calibres 4130 and 9001 therefore do not describe every current version. The examples below identify movements; they do not establish a turns-per-day setting for an entire collection.

How do you confirm TPD and rotation direction?

TPD means the watch winder’s turns per day, not the crown turns used for manual winding. The cited documents identify movements; they do not validate a universal TPD programme for our devices.

  1. Find the full reference and calibre in your watch’s documentation.
  2. Consult its specific manual. If no winder programme is given, request confirmation from the manufacturer or its authorised network for that reference.
  3. Check that your device supports the required programme and that its direction labels match the instructions.
  4. For a stopped watch, follow its restarting procedure before placing it on the cushion. If it stops again, check the settings and seek advice instead of automatically increasing TPD.

Which Mercier & Fils watch winder for your Rolex?

One Rolex in your collection

Mazarin II and Rivoli II provide two positions for watches worn in rotation. Compare our double watch winders and check how the cushion fits your bracelet. Each watch’s calibre determines its programme.

Mazarin XII and Rivoli XII provide twelve positions; the XXIV versions provide twenty-four. Compare 12-watch winders and 24-watch winders according to how many watches you want to keep running, rather than the total number you own.

Frequently asked questions

What TPD setting does a Rolex Submariner need?

The reference and calibre are the starting point. The cited Rolex specification confirms calibre 3235 for Submariner Date 126610LN, but gives no watch-winder TPD programme. Have the programme confirmed for your reference; no single setting is presented here as a universal official instruction.

Does a Rolex worn every day need a winder?

Rolex explains that daily wear provides automatic winding. A winder is mainly useful when alternating between watches; it does not replace servicing. For a stopped watch, follow the reference’s manual-winding instructions before restarting it.

Does a winder remove the need for precautions?

No. Check the programme, the watch’s fit on the cushion and clearance around the case. A winder replaces neither the manual nor servicing. For a vintage watch or a complication, consult the service department before prolonged use.
